Concrete might be a strong, durable material for slabs, driveways, and sidewalks, but even the strongest material can crack, break or sink. Choosing to get your cracked and sunken concrete fixed sounds like a daunting, expensive process, but it doesn’t have to be!
Concrete can sink for a variety of reasons, including the erosion of soil beneath the slab, poorly compacted soil that settles over time, a bad pour in the first place, poor drainage, and more. Concrete lifting involves injecting a polyurethane foam beneath the existing slab, which will expand and lift the concrete back into place. This is a quick, cost-effective way of repairing cracked, broken and sunken concrete instead of having to replace the entire slab, and we at TCB Foam Solutions are experts at this.
The first step of the project will be for us to assess the current condition of the surface, and prepare the areas that will need to be lifted. This will include removing any plants and debris such as rocks, leaves and dirt. We will then inject small holes into the slab at specific locations that will ensure the concrete is lifted in a level manner.
We will then inject the foam through the holes, which will expand and lift the concrete back into place. We’ll remove the ports, trim off any excess foam, and patch the holes.
The curing time is only about an hour, so you can use your driveway or slab almost immediately after we’re done. The repair will last decades; longer than the concrete itself can! This is just one of the reasons that concrete lifting using polyurethane foam is the best option for your slab, sidewalk or driveway.
